Every year, Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world through various initiatives that create opportunities for people to share love, care, and meaningful moments with their loved ones. Continuing this spirit, Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD), Chattogram District, organized the 12th episode of “Valentine’s 2nd Innings” on February 7 at Amena Bashar Old Age Home in Raozan.
The primary objective of this initiative was to share love, compassion, and emotional support with elderly individuals who are often separated from their families. The program aimed to reduce their sense of isolation and bring moments of joy, dignity, and human connection into their lives.
On this special day, VBD volunteers spent quality time with the residents through heartfelt conversations, storytelling, and friendly interactions, creating a warm and joyful environment. The event included the distribution of gifts, a shared lunch, cultural performances such as singing and dancing, and several engaging recreational activities. Each segment of the program was designed to make the elderly residents feel valued, remembered, and emotionally connected.
More than 60 dedicated volunteers from VBD Chattogram District participated in the initiative alongside 45 residents of the old age home. The collective effort transformed the occasion into a meaningful celebration of empathy, intergenerational bonding, and social inclusion.
Through “Valentine’s 2nd Innings,” VBD once again reaffirmed its commitment to promoting compassion and community engagement, making Valentine’s Day not only a celebration of romantic love but also a powerful reminder of humanity, respect, and care for those who need it the most.
