Training Youth to Save Lives: “Aid Aware” First Aid Workshop Held in Chattogram

In any emergency, having the right knowledge at the right time can mean the difference between life and death. With this in mind, Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD) – Chattogram District organized a practical and hands-on first aid workshop titled “Aid Aware” on June 26, 2025, at Chatt Turf Field, located in the 2 No. Gate area of Chattogram.

The Purpose Behind the Workshop

Many of us are willing to help during a crisis, but very few have the training to act effectively. “Aid Aware” was designed to bridge that gap. The aim was simple: empower youth with essential first aid skills so they’re ready to respond confidently and responsibly when someone needs urgent help.

What Took Place

A total of 45 young volunteers took part in the session, which was facilitated by Dr. Shazed Monowar Saimum. The workshop covered a range of practical topics including:

  • How to measure blood pressure and blood sugar

  • How to identify blood groups

  • Basic wound care and proper bandaging techniques

  • What to do immediately after an accident or medical emergency

The format was hands-on and interactive. Volunteers practiced in small groups, asked questions, and participated in real-life simulations. This wasn’t just about learning, it was about preparing.

Why It Matters

Workshops like this go beyond skills. They help build confidence and a sense of social responsibility. Many participants shared that they now feel more capable of stepping up in an emergency, whether it’s helping a family member, a friend, or a stranger in need.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. For many, this was their first experience with medical training, and it sparked a deep sense of purpose.

What’s Next

This initiative reflects VBD Chattogram’s commitment to developing capable, compassionate youth who are ready to serve their communities. More workshops like “Aid Aware” are being planned, so that more young people across the division are equipped with the tools they need to protect lives and create impact.
